KARACHI: A serious disciplinary issue unfolded at the College of Nursing of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on April 14, 2025, when a group of fifth-semester nursing students was found engaged in disruptive behavior during an unauthorized internal party.
According to an incident report submitted by the Principal and approved by the Executive Director of JPMC, around 50 students from Class 21-25 (Batch 2024-2028) were involved in locking the classroom from inside and conducting a private gathering centered around student affairs discussion, in violation of institutional norms.
The situation escalated when administrative staff intervened. Upon confrontation, students reportedly verbally abused staff members and physically assaulted Mr. Hiralal Hatesh, Nursing Instructor, and Administrator Abdul Hameed, Head Clerk.
The students also allegedly pressured the administration to hand over the official registration list of the G.BSN 2024-2028 session, which was beyond their purview.
The staff involved in managing the situation included Principal Mubashra Ishaq Hashmi, Abdul Hameed Head Clerk, Mr. Hiralal Hatesh, and Riffat Ghazala, Nursing Instructor.
Despite repeated counseling sessions in the past, no improvement was observed in the behavior of the involved students. Consequently, warning letters were issued to all, and a final show-cause notice was served to Abdur Razzak, Haris Sufi, Junaid Khursheed, and Arman Shah.
In light of the severity of the misconduct and to prevent future incidents, the report recommends termination of the involved students’ enrollment.
The administration has urged strict adherence to institutional policies and emphasized that violations of conduct, especially those involving intimidation or interference in official matters, will not be tolerated.
