Iftar Dinner in Honor of Health Reporters, Decision to Establish Health Reporters Association

KARACHI: An iftar dinner was organized at the Karachi Press Club in honor of health reporters from electronic, print, and digital media. During the event, it was jointly decided to establish the Health Reporters Association Karachi to address the challenges faced by health reporters.

Senior journalists, including Akhtar Shaheen Rind, Bilal Tahir, Imran Pirzada, Irfan Abbasi, Ibrahim Rind, Abid Khan, Muhammad Faran, Safdar Butt, Liaqat Mughal, Shahid Mirani, Waseem Hashmi, Raja Irshad Asadi, Poon Kumar, Gul Mamond, Anwar Shaikh and Babar Sheikh, attended the event.

Additionally, an ad-hoc committee comprising senior health reporters was formed. The committee includes Akhtar Shaheen Rind, Bilal Tahir, Imran Pirzada, Safdar Butt, Ibrahim Rind, Abid Khan, Irfan Abbasi, Raja Irshad Asadi, and Waseem Hashmi. This committee will engage with health reporters from print, electronic, and digital media to discuss and finalize matters related to the association.

Speaking on the occasion, Akhtar Shaheen Rind emphasized the need for professional training for health reporters. He announced plans to organize workshops and study tours soon. He also stressed the importance of strengthening ties with the Sindh Health Department and other relevant institutions, ensuring that both issues are highlighted and positive initiatives are encouraged to restore public trust in institutions.

A special prayer was also offered for the departed souls of health reporters Shabana Shafiq, Jamila, and Ashfaq Anjum.
