JSMU's 33rd Syndicate Approves Modernization and Growth Initiatives

KARACHI: The 33rd meeting of the Syndicate of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) was held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon. The Vice Chancellor presented the agenda, which included several significant decisions.

Among the key approvals was the implementation of the SAP Project offered by the Federal HEC in JSMU. This move will modernize the university's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency across various departments. 

The Syndicate also approved the nomination of Prof. Dr. Ellahi Bux Soomro as an eminence member of the selection board JSMU for another period of two years, ensuring continuity and stability in the university's hiring and promotion processes.

The Syndicate unanimously approved the 17th meeting minutes of the Finance and Planning Committee held on December 28, 2023 and the promotion of Associate Professor Dr. Fatima Abid and Dr. Beenish Arif to BPS 20, as well as the departmental upgradation and promotion of the University's Non-Teaching Regular employees, demonstrating the university's commitment to the well-being and professional development of its staff.

The Syndicate granted approval for the adoption of a Policy for Investment, enabling JSMU to explore strategic financial opportunities that can contribute to its long-term sustainability and growth. The adoption of a Policy for Petty Cash was also approved, ensuring a clear and efficient process for managing small-scale financial transactions within the university.

The Syndicate also authorized the procurement of a Camera for the University's convocation coverage and student's passport pictures and portraits, improving the documentation and record-keeping of these important events.

Vice Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, stating, "The Syndicate meeting was highly productive, and we have taken several important decisions that will further our mission of providing quality education. JSMU remains committed to leading medical education in Pakistan and ensuring the well-being of our staff and students."

The 33rd Syndicate meeting underscored JSMU's dedication to academic excellence, staff welfare, and institutional growth, reinforcing its position as a premier medical university in the region.
