PCS appoints Dr. Akram Sultan as Karachi Chapter Coordinator

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cardiac Society (PCS) has named senior cardiologist Dr. Akram Sultan as the Coordinator for its Karachi Chapter in a move that underscores its commitment to advancing cardiac care in Pakistan. The decision was finalized during a recent council meeting. 

Dr. Akram Sultan brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role, making him a highly regarded figure in the field of public health and cardiology. 

With a distinguished career that includes serving as Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Karachi also Director Health for Karachi Division and Project Director for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in Sindh, he has played a pivotal role in shaping healthcare initiatives across the province. 

Currently, Dr. Sultan serves as a specialist at Tabba Heart Institute in Karachi, where his work focuses on providing advanced cardiac care to patients.

Known for his commitment to community health and innovative approaches to tackling public health challenges, he is expected to infuse the Karachi Chapter with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. 

The Pakistan Cardiac Society, a leading organization dedicated to improving cardiac health through education, advocacy, and collaboration, expressed confidence in Dr. Sultan’s leadership. “His track record in public health and cardiology, combined with his dedication to patient welfare, makes him an ideal choice to lead the Karachi Chapter,” a spokesperson said.

As Coordinator, Dr. Sultan is anticipated to lead initiatives aimed at raising awareness of cardiovascular diseases, fostering collaboration among medical professionals, and enhancing access to cardiac care in the region. 

The appointment is seen as a significant step towards addressing the growing burden of heart disease in Pakistan, which remains one of the leading causes of mortality in the country.
