Karachi: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Karachi strongly condemns the alleged continued protection of Dr. Shehzad Ali, who was found guilty of harassment by the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and the Sindh Healthcare Commission. Despite Secretary of Health’s orders for his removal from JPMC and transfer to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), he remains active in official roles, attending Tumor Board meetings and retaining access to JPMC’s official groups.
Attempt to Rejoin Medical Institutions:
YDA Karachi has revealed that Dr. Shehzad Ali has applied to the Academic Council for reinstatement, with some members supporting him. The association calls this a disgraceful attempt to protect a proven harasser, warning that such actions set a dangerous precedent and undermine workplace safety.
YDA Karachi’s Demands:
The Young Doctors Association urges the authorities to take immediate action:
- Permanent removal of Dr. Shehzad Ali from all medical institutions.
- Strict legal action against those shielding him.
- A transparent investigation into the Academic Council’s role in supporting him.
- Intervention by the Chief Justice of Pakistan and Health Minister Madam Azra Pechuho to ensure justice.
Warning of Protests and Legal Action:
YDA Karachi warns that if immediate action is not taken, it will launch widespread protests and pursue legal action to hold Dr. Shehzad Ali and his enablers accountable.
“This is not just about one case. This is about ensuring that no harasser can manipulate the system to escape justice. We stand with the victim and demand accountability,” the statement concluded.
